Introduction
There are many who believe that family law and the divorce process of working out solutions to family separation is too complicated for separating couples to sort out for themselves, that it takes too long to get a divorce in the UK and is too difficult to reach a fair divorce settlement.
This is simply not true. The Divorce Manual will show you how to do your own DIY Divorce through videos, family mediation checklists, fair financial templates and resources to guide you through the stages of divorce in the UK.
You will overcome the biggest challenge of working together with our step by step process. This manual focuses on encouraging and enabling you to work together to create the fairest solutions for the whole separated family. Rather than worrying about the costly process of navigating divorce law, by working together you will be making your own decisions.
Central to a successful, smooth and cost effective family mediation process is the need for one primary source of information. The Divorce Manual provides you, your former partner and your mediation team with a clear road map to work through, so that you can reach a clear and fair agreement.

Why this Manual
This Divorce Manual and series of videos has been created for those who wish to avoid court, keep their costs to a minimum and separate in a way which protects them and their children from the most damaging effects of conflict.
This Manual is built on the belief that with the right information and professional support, delivered in the right way and at the right time, the majority of separating and divorcing couples (more than 150,000 people a year. 2021) are capable of reaching their own financial and child agreements in mediation.
This means that every year tragically many thousands of separating are ending up in court when they need not do so!
This Manual has been designed to help and support you, your former partner, the mediator and any other family professionals supporting you, to work together as a ‘solution focused team’ (‘Mediation Teaming’), from the same route map (Manual), minimising the risk of confusion, polarisation and escalating costs.
We guarantee that if you use this Divorce Manual as intended you WILL save a significant amount of money which would be much better spent meeting future financial needs
We do not offer guarantees lightly!
Multi-media
This Divorce Manual was created to allow you to work through the divorce process using our mediation resource in the way that you work at your best.
Some people prefer to read, some prefer to watch, some prefer to listen and some try to do all three at the same time ! Our chapters, videos and checklists give you the option to manage your own DIY divorce at the speed and cost of your choosing.
For these reasons most chapters and sections are also in video format, with resources and checklists to guide you through each stage of divorce.
Finding your way around
Most people using this Divorce Manual will be very busy and feel stressed by the thought of reaching a fair divorce settlement when they may have experienced unreasonable behaviour, consulted with a family solicitor and be unsure of how to start the divorce process.
We have taken the stress out of finding how to work through each stage of divorce with each of the 15 chapters organised into shorter focussed sections (128 in total) which you can easily navigate from the main index in the menu bar, allowing the information and documentation required at the time to be quickly found and presented to you by an expert divorce lawyer and experienced family mediation professional to get your through this difficult time.
The resources tab in the menu gives you a quick overview and access to all the Divorce Manual resources linked to each chapter.
Chapters and sections are presented in video format, so that you can listen to information whilst going about your daily life.
The Divorce Manual is designed for your mediator to use with you in a focused and targeted way so if, for example, you are preparing to come into a mediation session to discuss and agree a figure for ongoing financial support (maintenance) you can go straight to the chapter and sections all about reaching maintenance agreements.
For those who like to carry out more extensive preparation and research you will find a separate resources section to each chapter with useful documents and carefully selected useful websites offering independent and recommended sources of information and documentation.
