“Doing it yourself is the key”
The no-fault divorce process is covered in depth in chapter 7- How to do your own divorce.
Your Divorce Coach can offer additional help and support with the online divorce process, helping you to achieve a no-fault divorce in a focused, collaborative and cost-effective way with your former partner.
For example, your Coach can help you and your former partner decide whether to jointly apply for the divorce or not and discuss the implications of this with you.
The Divorce coach acts as your guide to our Divorce Manual helping you to quickly find the right information when you need it so that you can make fully informed decisions about the divorce process.
The no-fault divorce process can be completed online (preferred route) or in paper form.
Working with a Divorce coach, the online divorce process and the Divorce chapter in our Divorce Manual to help you, the divorce process should not cost you and your former partner any more than the court fee, which is currently £593 (2022).
This support might include helping you to understand some of the divorce legal language, preparing your paperwork and checking that you have all the necessary information and documents before you start the online process.
It can also include guiding you through the 6 steps of the divorce process set out in chapter 7.
There are some aspects of the divorce process which are not particularly straightforward where further explanation is required before you make your decisions. Your Divorce Coach can help with this.
The Divorce Manual provides many answers to commonly asked questions and highlights potential pitfalls in the process.
If the Mediator or your Divorce coach believe that you need advice from a solicitor with the divorce process, using their experience, knowledge of you and the processes, they will be able to recommend a suitable solicitor to support you.
