Divorce Financial Disclosure Booklet

Part 2.2 Current accounts

The balances in current accounts often fluctuate, on a regular basis. Even so, you must provide up-to-date figures and a dates for each account balance.

Please make sure that you disclose every bank account and balance, however small, or risk fuelling suspicion that other assets may not have been disclosed as well.

During the mediation session, you will have a chance to ask each other about these figures and ask for copy bank statements after a mediation session

Use our Document Checklist to keep a note of account statements you are using for your figures in the Financial Disclosure Booklet. This will make it easier to manage the document collection process

Please please remember to validate your request by explaining why you need this information or document, identifying the issues you hope they will resolve, rather than simply saying that the disclosure process requires them or your Solicitor requires them.

This may or may not be true but this approach does not form part of a mutually respectful reasoned decision-making process.

Chapter 7, Section 7 of the Divorce Manual – How to make requests, not demands? – deals with this point in much more detail
