Part 2.3 Savings accounts

If you have more than 8 saving accounts please use a continuation page and please provide up-to-date balances and dates for these.

Even if the account is in joint names, the form requires the full balance rather than inserting half the balance.

When it comes to the mediation session, be ready to provide a bit of background to monies in your savings accounts, should this become necessary for context.

For example, it might be the case that monies in a savings account have been put aside school fees or for a future tax liability and so on. If so, please explain this.

Please avoid spending savings, after you have separated, without at least informing your former partner of the reason for this and, at best, do this with their agreement since mediation is about discussing and agreeing how your assets are going to be divided between you following separation.

We have seen far too many mediations breakdown because this has not happened when it could so easily have been avoided.
