Section 6 – 8-12 years old

If children of this age are exposed to high levels of conflict between their parents they may try to solve the distress and confusion they feel by rejecting one parent.

Section 5 – 5-8 years old

They often have a strong wish to get their parents back together and will say and do things they hope will achieve this.

Section 4 – 2-5 years old

Pre-school children are likely to be become confused and thrown by changes in routines and are also likely to blame themselves when things go wrong.

Section 3 – Birth-2 years old

Children in this age group are highly dependent on their parents and are in the process of forming and cementing attachment bonds with their parents.
